Résumé
The Canadian government has adopted an explicit policy to encourage French-speaking immigrants to settle in Francophone communities outside Quebec. Research on the issue of immigration in linguistic minority Francophone communities started in the late 1990's. It focused initially on the fact that these minority communities are disadvantaged because the immigration-driven demographic growth of the Canadian population is largely bypassing them. Now that immigration in Francophone communities is receiving more attention, the focus has expanded to cover the entire breadth of the immigration experience: from selection and integration to the identification of the second generation with the Francophone community.
