Abstract
Most mental illnesses first appear during adolescence or in early adulthood; they affect academic achievement, career opportunities and success, and personal relationships, and can have life-long impacts. Whereas most young people navigate adolescence without problems, a sufficiently large proportion however have worrisome profiles, and this must be considered. Using data from the Canadian Community Health Survey—Mental Health (CCHS-MH 2012), the purpose of this article is to provide a portrait of the mental health of Francophone youth aged 15 to 24 living in a minority language community and to compare it to that of Francophone youth living in Quebec.
