Abstract
In Alberta and in French Ontario, the value of the francophone heritage is linked to the construction of authenticity, historically and linguistically, which produce a sense of identity at the same time an economical development. With texts analysis and interviews, from public and official sectors of the economy, we tried to understand how discourses are constructed and interpreted around authenticity in Alberta and French Ontario. The vision of “authenticity” is confronted, in a constant tension, to global tourism which is based on multilingual competencies and tries to get away from a traditional francophonie, while using it.
