Abstract
Migration trends have a real impact on the demographics of official language minority communities (OLMCs), as well as on their linguistic vitality. This report will present the available data on interprovincial migration trends in Canada for the period from 2011 to 2016 according to four language groups: Francophones, Anglophones, bilinguals and allophones. The first section will present data on the provinces and territories of origin and destination of migrants. A second section will present data on interprovincial in-migrants and out-migrants as well as net migration in the provinces and territories. Other data will provide an overview of the proportion of people who migrate to major cities across the country. These data are complemented by data on migrants from outside Canada by the same language groups. These data will help us better understand the scope of the migration phenomenon in the Francophone context at the national and provincial/territorial levels.
