Abstract
This article presents the principle results of two studies on the use of text organizers and story tense in narrative texts in two groups: students aged 9 and 10 years and college students. All these students represent contrasting socio-cultural milieu. The objective of the analysis was to establish if there are differences between these students according to their school level and their socio-cultural background in relation to three indicators: narrative structure, story tense, and connectors. The results allowed the authors to show a strong correlation between the various linguistic indicators selected. This seems to support the importance of working in class on all three aspects: the narrative structure, text organizers, and the use of tenses. This finding was noted for students regardless of their socio-cultural background.
