Abstract
French immersion, a new concept in second-lang teaching in the 1960s, is well-known in Canada today. Generally developed for anglophones wanting to become bilingual, the program has tended to serve primarily the needs of the Eng-speaking Mc. It is suggested that this kind of program could also help French-speaking minority children, especially those who are already assimilated or in the process of being assimilated to Eng, to safeguard their language & culture.
