Abstract
Analyzes the background as well as some of the applications and implications of Ontario's Law 8, which guarantees provincial government services in French in urban centers with more than five thousand Francophones and in areas in which Francophones represent at least 10% of the population. The law was adopted in 1986 and put in force in 1989.
