Abstract
Evaluated is the Laurentian U's attempt to approach fully bilingual service. The first requirement - a professional bilingual staff - is difficult to achieve. The staff's desire to support course offerings in both languages has produced a dual language collection in the social sciences but a predominately English collection within other disciplines. A retrieval mechanism allowing dual access to the library collection has produced since mid-1975 approximately 88,440 entries in the English subject catalog & approximately 19,860 in the French. Laurentian U has a commitment to meet the educational aspirations of two distinct sociolinguistic groups, & reflects the spirit of the Canadian national identity. Modified HA
