Abstract
The objective of this qualitative research study was to analyze how Francophones living in a minority situation think about their health and that of their community, as well as to evaluate their perceptions of the health care systems they have access to, particularly when they live in rural or remote areas. The study was carried out in Northeast Ontario with 32 Francophones from 10 different towns. The results show that the contempt for the minority language and the lack of services and consideration for Francophones, as well as the government’s lack of interest in users in remote areas are the keys to the insecurity about and disillusionment in the provincial health system.
